Photography by Charles Kikas If you have perused any of my other product review articles, you will know that I am frugal, to say the least. I generally start all of my product research with a fixed budget and I look for products that fall within a certain price range. Keeping that in mind, I also have a list of detailed specifications that a particular product must meet in order for me to consider purchasing it. The ASUS F512J laptop from Staples ticked all the boxes. Let’s see why.
ASUS, the Company
Founded in 1989, ASUS is a Taiwanese, multinational computer and electronics company. As of 2021, they were the 5th largest PC vendor in the world. ASUS was formed by four former hardware engineers of the computer company Acer. They are dedicated to bringing high-quality PCs and laptops to the home market. The company tagline, “In search of incredible,” perfectly describes the product offerings available in stores. Photography by Charles Kikas
Under the Hood: Specifications
An Amazing Laptop With an Amazing Price
With an original retail price of over $600, the Asus VivoBook F512JA-PH54-BAC 15.6″ Ultrabook Laptop on sale at Staples for $429 was quite probably the deal of the century. Looking at the specifications for this laptop on paper and then finally experiencing the actual laptop at home pretty much convinced me that this purchase was one of the best technology purchases I’ve ever made. Finding a high-quality Windows 11 laptop with these features in the $400 price range is nearly impossible. Photography by Charles Kikas Photography by Charles Kikas The ASUS F512J is light as a feather, weighing in at only three pounds. It is designed to be highly portable, making this thin and lightweight laptop a breeze to bring along on vacation or business trips. The 15.6" HD screen was glare-free and bright enough to view poolside in bright sunlight without any trouble. The natural colors were vibrant and made images pop when viewed from almost any angle. Loaded with the 10th generation Intel Core I5 processor, which is coupled with an amazing 12GB of ram, makes for a super smooth computing experience with zero lag when gaming or multitasking. I was pleased with the ease with which I was able to edit videos, browse the web, and download multiple files from the web without effort. Personal security is top-notch with a fingerprint reader included on the trackpad to make secure sign-ins a breeze. Something not typically found on budget laptops in this price range. I loved the backlit keyboard along with the smooth operation of the keys when pressed. These are some of the extra high-quality touches that ASUS provides to its customer base whereas other laptop manufacturers simply forgo these in favor of profit over customer satisfaction. Nice touch, ASUS! I was thrilled to have found this beautiful laptop at the super low price of $429 since it has all of the features normally found in laptops in the $1200 price range. Value, quality, performance, and good looks abound in this budget powerhouse offered by ASUS. I highly recommend the Asus VivoBook F512JA-PH54-BAC 15.6″ Ultrabook Laptop. Get it while or if you can!
